With the swine flu outbreak, would you still go on this vacation?
Reader question: My family is planning to go to parts of China (Beijing, Hong Kong, Hainan Island etc.) and maybe Japan or Taiwan this summer. With the swine flu outbreak, would you still go or cancel the vacation?
Thanks for everyone's input!
Our main concern is the 15+ hours on the plane in constant contact with many people. We might have to be on many flights as well between destinations.
Thanks!

The swine flu is pretty much confined to Mexico. I say, go on vacation to China or wherever & have an awesome time!!! Wash your hands frequently, carry a hand sanitizer with you, and don’t touch your eyes & mouth a lot or shake hands with people. That’s what I would do
Have fun!!

Seeing as the H1N1 Influenza A virus seems to be mostly gone, it will probably be okay by the time summer is officially here.

There are more cases in the USA than in China. It hasn’t caught on yet. You’re probably going to get it before you even go.

I would still go because the u.s has the most number of cases more than Mexico. Japan only has about 360-400 cases China only has a handful. Just be careful if your making connections in: New York, Texas, Illinois, and other states with high counts of Swine Flu in the upper hundreds close to the thousands.

Depends what kind of vacation, but most likely I would. Washing your hands, staying away from sick people aka people coughing and sneezing should suffice. Also to note it is still unclear how easily it spreads through air.

Outbreak…hahahahahahhaha. 11 people in the US. 11. out of 300,000,000. Outbreak. The regular old flu kills more people than that.

You’d better stay in home ,it was said that the swine flu was found in Beijing China, see the news below, so I don’t think it is a good time visit in China

If you are worried about the flight, consider wearing a mask:

For CHINA: I wouldn’t go there this summer. The Chinese are nagging people about where they’ve been over and over again. Also, if your plane has anyone over normal temperature, everyone on it has has to be quarantined( separated to a different place and isolated) from the rest of China. My dad is in China right now and when he arrived, they kept asking him about where he’s been and also they wanted to see his passport to confirm his statements. He also had to fill out this form stating where he’s been in the past two weeks before he want there. Also, I wouldn’t go just to be safe. There’s a lot of people in China and the sanitation isn’t the best, so you can be careful.

Of course. As long as you don’t have health issues. Even if you do get it, it’s not that bad. You can recover from it like the regular flu
