The official exam guide for CCNA would probably be the best place to start. Anything from Cisco Press on the subject, really.

carolina c: TCP/IP is not a protocol, rather a collection or "suite" of protocols designed to work together.

I'm taking the CISCO course next semester because I'm studying to become a system analyst so by doing so I'm complementing knowledge I have gained during my career in terms of networking and telecommunications. You should start by reading about the basic communication protocols, internet protocols, the OSI model, the TCP IP protocol, and all the simbology that CISCO has created that are use as standards around the world. I would start with the OSI model, that should get you going.
