Exclusive video!
Weaponology.Russian special purpose regiments or Spetsnaz, Specnaz (Russian: Войска специального назначения, (спецназ) tr: Voyska spetsialnogo naznacheniya, pronounced [spʲetsnas]) is a general term for "special forces" in Russian, literally "special purpose". These Russian special forces can specifically refer to any elite or special purpose units under subordination of the Federal Security Service (FSB) or Internal Troops of Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the units controlled by the military intelligence service GRU.In the Armed Forces, spetsnaz is a term mainly used in connection with GRU-controlled COMINT, ELINT and radio-surveillance units. Spetsnaz carry out reconnaissance and social warfare missions in "peacetime" as well as in war. According to Vladimir Rezun, a GRU defector who used the pseudonym "Viktor Suvorov", there were 20 Spetsnaz brigades plus 41 separate companies. Thus, total strength of Spetsnaz forces was around 30000 troops at the time, their numbers are unknown today.

@psyourvideosucks
Dragunov it’s a marksman rifle not a sniper rifle
July 16th, 2010 - 08:48
Russian weapons are deadly, I do find them more interesting than american weapons.

@iloveafg123 Islam is a religion, not a race. What Ray was trying to say (i think) is that the Russians and Israelis don’t worry about seeming politically incorrect or being percieved as racist. They do what is necessary to get the job done and don’t give a tiny rat’s ass if the Muslim sympathizers get offended.

I’m not exactly sure what you’re referring to, because the M4A1 and the M16A4 are still the standard assault rifles used by the US military. I know special operations soldiers such as SEALs and the Special Forces are allowed to personally select the weapons they go into battle with, perhaps this is what you were referencing? Even in that case, however, they usually select weapons like the HK 416 or some of the assault rifles i listed in my last post.
July 16th, 2010 - 09:45
@psyourvideosucks I’m not talking of those weapons, specially like ACR.
Americans adopting the military version of the AR-15, M16A1 now to M16A4 in iraq/afghanistan well is not really good. US Army actually swapped their M16s for russian weapons like the AKms and PPSH

@Claymore2408 i would have to agree that the brand new Russian weapons are matching that of the Germans, but to say that American weaponry is inadequate would be inaccurate. American companies like knight’s armament, lwrc, cheytac, and bushmaster are making top quality weapons like the pdw, psd, intervention, and acr (respectively).
July 16th, 2010 - 11:08
@psyourvideosucks I really wouldn’t put american weapons on par with german and russian weapons to be honest, now that americans are adopting the HK416, the HK version of the M4A1. Now the russians are adopting the AN-94, pretty much the most leathal assault rifle i’ve ever fired.

AK 47 series is legendary for its rugged durability, but it’s completely outdated on the modern battlefield. American and German weapons are becoming increasingly durable, and their accuracy and adaptability are unparalleled. As for the Dragunov… it was a good mass produced sniper rifle in its time. Compared to the sniper rifles of today, such as the Accuracy International AW or the McMillan Tac series rifles, it’s nothing but a toy. The Russian armory’s only real strong suit is its durability

When Terrorists piss off the Kremlin,they better get ready for Russian Hit Squads to endlessly hunt them down wherever they may be around the world.The only other Nation in the world to Adopt this philosophy would be Israel,and maybe the United States in limited circumstances.

@Tux3d0 yes
July 16th, 2010 - 13:10
@purplecurtisimo Haha, where did you read that? Wikipedia? Let me elaborate a little more: The Dragunov uses a short stroke gas piston, and the gas chamber has a two position manual gas regulator, and has three locking lugs on the bolt. The AK-47 uses a long stroke gas piston,doesn’t have a gas regulator, and has only two locking lugs on the bolt, but the lugs are much bigger. The Dragunov also uses a different trigger unit, one that which happens to be removable as a whole. From: world.guns.ru

July 16th, 2010 - 14:03

The Spetsnaz used themselves as humanshield covering children while they were running to safety in Beslan when the hell broke lose, as the result, many of the soldiers lost their lives but they are remembered as heroes.
July 16th, 2010 - 17:06
@RJAfterlife89 spetsnaz raped IRA, green berets vs spetsnaz was SO interesting, I was happy with the result
July 16th, 2010 - 17:30
@Tux3d0-Yep and The IRA vs Spetsnaz XD
July 16th, 2010 - 17:38
I don’t get how they say the Dragunov is so similar to the AK. They are two completely different rifles. The Dragunov receiver is milled, while most AKs have stamped ones. The magazine release is NOT in the same place, the AK’s is part of the trigger guard, while the Dragunov’s is out a few inches in front of the trigger guard. They both use a different gas system, and so they DO NOT operate the same way, and the Dragunov uses a bigger round the 7.62X54R, much bigger than either of the AKs.
July 16th, 2010 - 17:59
@neutrality2 That is too true, us westerners are soft…
July 16th, 2010 - 18:34
@go0fy11137 Except a lot of the terrorists face in Iraq and Afghanistan are former republican guard which were highly trained soldiers under Saddam. thats who gave the Marines a tough time in Fallujah in 2004 former republican guard and other forces who cam from neighboring countries
July 16th, 2010 - 18:55
I have also come across fascinating accounts of the Beslan siege, when a number of Spetsnaz operatives purposely left their cover and went directly into the open in order to taunt the Chechen separatists, thus assuring that the Chechens would be firing at them and not the fleeing hostages. The willingness to endanger their own lives for the sake of the hostages should be the true measuring stick for any counter-terror unit not their lethality.
July 16th, 2010 - 19:51
Although it is fashionable to call the Spetsnaz as “cold-blooded killers” and “ruthless” it is interesting to note that a major portion of casualties on part of Spetsnaz during the siege of Beslan school sustained firearm wounds to their backs, because they were voluntarily shielding the escaping kids with their own bodies. That is the purest demonstration of courage and heart. I doubt that my country’s (Canadian) special forces or any other western commandos would have the stones to do the same
