  2. I haven’t even read this new book of Perry’s yet (feel free to send me a review copy Perry ;) ), but I know it will be up to his usual EXCELLENT standard.

    I have spent well over $1,000 purchasing Perry’s info products over the last 2-3 years, and they have ALWAYS overdelivered on value, quality and raw hard-hitting “in the trenches” tips, strategies and concepts.

    I have taken what I learned from Perry’s original “Definitive Guide to Adwords” and his Adwords coaching program and forged a brand new career as an Adwords expert here in Australia.

    I now manage clients spending tens of THOUSANDS of dollars a month, and find the whole adwords game quite exhilirating. More importantly, it’s a thrill to help my clients bring in new sales leads, sell products and services and perform market research with Adwords.

    Thanks HEAPS Perry – you changed my life for the better, without even knowing it. You’re one of the very FEW people whose emails I read whenever they hit my inbox, compared to the massive collection of hype-infected “internet marketing gurus” that are out there…

    In fact, I just did a purge of all my email subscriptions I get from various Internet Marketing “gurus”, and Perry is one of the FEW left standing after the smoke cleared.

    So, my personal recommendation – even without having read this book – is to buy it. I am 110% sure Perry & Bryan (his RH man) will have done a damn fine job of teaching the ins & outs of successful Google AdWords campaign setup and management.

    Oh, yes, I will be ordering a copy of this book :)

  3. Perry Marshall belongs to a loathesome breed – the internet marketer. These guys are all out trying to hawk overprice “big box” seminars full of hideous video material in beige hotel conference rooms and 25 hours of badly recorded telephone audio for $297, $397, $897 and $997 (preferred price points for this dross).

    Why not just write a coherent book? It takes a lot less time for us to read and can be packaged and sold for far less.

    Well I think I’ve answered my own question. In short, internet marketing gurus are out to waste our time and pilfer our money. Hype and selling us “the secret” over and over again are their stock and trade.

    Out of this sad lot, Perry Marshall happily enough is one of the best. He can write cogently and has the gift of teaching what he knows to others. His particular talent is for Google AdWords.

    In this book, Marshall and co-author Bryan Todd give you a good grounding in online marketing and some good specifics on AdWords. I was very pleasantly surprised by the quality and breadth of information. I also own Perry Marshall’s Definitive Guide to Google AdWords. There is a certain lack of depth, but all of internet marketing cannot be fit into a single relatively slim volume.

    The problem with Perry Marshall is that he started his marketing career in MLM (multilevel marketing) and never entirely outgrew it. He has made a lot of hay about having been an Ambot (Amway drone). That’s not the kind of thing I’d want to crow about (“my past life as a gay geisha” ought to be less embarassing). This book looks like Marshall’s first real attempt to outgrow that psychology (“drain them for all their worth and never let go”).

    But that’s just on the surface. Marshall’s admitted goal here is to get you to buy into the rest of his gear (prices start at $99/pop for MP3′s of two hour telephone conversations) and to get himself some mainstream media credibility. Be forewarned: Snort your free line but don’t get a blow habit.

    Overall if you are interested in AdWords – and especially if you have an allergy to snake oil salesmen – you shouldn’t miss Andrew Goodman’s very good (and hype free) book Winning Results with Google AdWords also available as a real book (and not an overpriced ebook). On his Goodman’s website, he has a special offer for both his report and his updates, together with the print book.

    Both Marshall’s Definitive Guide and Goodman’s books are starting to date so the Ultimate Guide has a place on one’s shelf (February 2007) just for the freshness of the information. You will have to keep up with the subject on either Goodman’s website [...] PPC doesn’t stand still for anyone. As I write this, Yahoo is entirely relaunching their own PPC system (ex-Overture).

  4. This book is a fast read, full of information, that is useful from the first page! I fully recommend it to anyone the has an interest in improving their business and their income. Adwords work!! Perry Marshall has the right method for making money!
