The proper way to restring a guitar by Bill Baker

Exclusive video!

Guitar Tech Bill Baker of NJ teaches you his way to restring an electric and acoustic guitar along with tips to clean, lube, and check over your guitar so you can get the best from it. Bill has done work for BLUE CHEER, Ace Frehley of KISS, The MISFITS, Richie Ranno of STARZ, Leslie West, The NERDS, and many more to name his top clients and friends. That's "BIG BENDS Nut Sauce" I'm using as a lube, and it's the best I've found. More on that product in the next video coming soon on restringing vintage Fender guitars and basses! While there are many ways to restring and stay in tune, this is what has been working for me and my customers in the past 20+ years I've been working on them and playing. Thanks for looking!!! Check out our other videos!!! *Watch this in High Quality* www.theacefrehleyarchive.com

  1. Ive been playing between 20 or 23 years (Ive lost track), and Ive never stayed in tune as well as I do after watching this video a few months ago. This is a great video… no fancy crap, just a well-communicated lesson, and good advice. I dont suppose you teach music theory? :)

  2. Without a doubt the best teacher in youtube!!!! Great job man!!!!!!!!!

  3. Only technique that works for me.

  4. best restringing video i have seen…you’re a natural teacher.

  5. I’m restringing my guitar for the first time, using this video.
So far everything has worked perfectly, but I can’t get it to go flat after stretching the string, any tips?

  6. Yay! It worked and saved me big time! Thanks!

  7. Thanks alot man.

  8. been playing guitar and changing strings for 12 years and this is the greatest method i have ever used on my gibson sg. strings lasted for so long. didnt work so well on my strat though for some reason, had to use a different method for that. i think the thumb rule isnt good when using the fender bullets, etc cause they are shorter i believe and therefore wont have enough slack.

  9. @seekah1 Well, none.

  10. Hey my dad showed me this method the only thing i do different is instead of doing the three finger thing i bring it to the next machine head

is there a point to getting that extra 2 mm or so by using ur finger it dosent seem like it would make much difference

also wat tuners would u recomend for my les paul (Copy) im not rich lol

    love the vids

  11. the video helped….though bill baker looks like dwight schrute

  12. Thank you so much for this video. I used to do the other method where you bend the string over itself at a 90 degree angle, but when I tried your method my strings came out perfect! This makes things so much simpler

  13. @seekah1
I’m right you fucking douchebag. Holding the guitar with the strings has nothing to do with getting the strings locked you fucking ignorant piece of fag.

  14. @1i2cant3spell how much trouble can you get from that???

  15. @Exutus Go hate somwwhere else asshole, or at least get your facts right.

  16. @Exutus He picks it up with the weight, how much more proof do you need its fucking locked??? Also any other locking method leaves space for slippage. This is a no brainer. Geeeez.

  17. @roccoownzu2 How else are you gonna clean the fb?

  18. @Desu2009 Trick to that is keep it under tension, watch carefully.

  19. Best restring tips ever.

  20. Thanks for the vid. I found it helpful!

  21. Just what I needed, Bill! Great tutorial; appreciated. Your approach to string stretching is so fearless and skilled – I imagine it will rub off, but I still cringe when pulling on my low ‘e’. Broken a few too many ..

  22. very informative.

  23. Hey Bill! great string videos! Just bought the Big Bends guitar maintenance kit off ebay. Stuff works great! Keep Rockin!!

  24. Thanks for the tips Bill! I’m gonna try your method and BB’s nut sauce asafp!
You have a great channel my friend! thumbs up!

  25. amazing tutorial for something thats haunted me for years, thanks bill.
