@callingctulhu the trolls in the hobbit were stone trolls, native to middle earth but perverted by the power of Morgoth, the they cannot withstand sunlight, but the troll in the trailer was a troll of sauron made by him and able to withstand sunlight only when under his power. Read the Quenta Simarllia (the Samirillion) and the movie all in one book’s appendixes.
