What happens if you leave your motorcycle in a parking garage?
My boyfriend lost the key to his motorcycle and he didn't have the spare key so we had to call a locksmith to make the motorcycle key. It was really late and we had problems so the locksmith said he would come tomorrow. "Tomorrow" was when my bf had to go out of town for a few days so basically the motorcycle was left in the garage for several days.

Do you think it might be towed, fined, or anything like that??? The parking garage is FREE for motorcycles.

Best answer:

Answer by roadawg
I don't think it's a matter of being towed, I'd worry more about it being stolen.

Can I get motorcycle drivers license in different state than my car license?
My permanent home is in Virginia where I acquired my car driver's license. However I go to school in North Carolina and would like to get my motorcycle driver's license. Can I take the safety course and examination in North Carolina and acquire the license and still be able to drive my motorcycle in Virginia?
Basically, can you get a motorcycle driver's license in a different state where you got your car driver's license and still be able to ride anywhere?

Additionally, do I register my bike with plates and insurance in my home state?
Thanks!

Best answer:

Answer by sensible_man
No. You need to be a resident of the State you apply for a license in. Most States only use an endorsement stamped on your regular drivers license.

Every lock has a weakness, and any person with enough determination, time, or access to the internet will find out how to break it. The fact of the matter is, even if you have a relatively unbreakable lock, the thief doesn't need to break the lock in the place you parked your motorcycle. A couple of strong guys or a small winch can lift a locked motorcycle into a van and drive off with it, giving them all the time they need to break your lock. To secure your motorcycle, being aware of your environment and remember the tips below for keeping away from the thieves:

* Park where the motorcycle can be easily seen and well-lit, and near where people are working, such as shops and restaurants
* Avoid parking your motorcycle behind trucks or other vehicles that may have limited visibility when backing-up
* Park your motorcycle in clusters to be more obvious
* Walk out to your motorcycle every few minutes and check on it, especially during the first 10 – 15 minutes your motorcycle is parked
* Use different types of locks (barrel key, flat key, combination, etc.). The more types of locks there are the more tools the thief needs to crack them.

Do remember to lock your motorcycle after parking it
Lock Your Motorcycle to Make the Theft Hesitate

* The Facts: only 26% of stolen motorcycles are recovered with the majority having suffered major damage
* 50% of motorcycle riders don't lock their bikes
* 80% of stolen motorcycles are taken from the owner's home
* 60% of motorcycles stolen are broken-up for parts
* the theft rate is twice that of cars
* the professional can steal your motorcycles in as little as 15 seconds, even with a lock

Important Factors to Purchase a Lock for Your Motorcycle

* choice of lock material
* motorcycle lock manufacturing process
* shape of the motorcycle lock that people use in different countries
* strength of motorcycle lock

Motorcycle Security Devices

There are different motorcycle security devices, including motorcycle alarms, motorcycle cable locks, motorcycle disc locks, motorcycle security chains, motorcycle U locks, etc. To secure your motorcycle, finding a lock maker with years experience and insists using high quality material to enhance the strength of locks would be important.
Motorcycle Alarm

Consider fitting a paging alarm, these are getting cheaper all the time.

motorcycle alarm system

Talking alarms are better than sirens; people tend to listen more when it's a human voice. Lots of motorcycle alarm products are thoroughly ruggedized and waterproof, and some motorcycle alarm systems are designed exclusively for installation on Cruisers, Harley Davidson, and custom motorcycles.

Motorcycle Cable Lock

A motorcycle cable lock that you can loop around a lamppost of similar is the best bet. Motorcycle cable lock is great for locking the frame of your motorcycle to the front wheel, or for locking your scooter to a fixed object. Most of motorcycle cable Lock's locking mechanism is stainless steel and brass, it gives you protection from rust, and is encased in thick hardened plastic.

Motorcycle Disc Lock

Motorcycle disc lock is a great way to secure your motorcycle. They are portable (in the case of disc locks, they will fit in your pocket), relatively difficult to break (compared to a garden-variety chain), and easy-to-use. The only drawback is the size of disc locks might make you forget about them, and to avoid that you could Lock your helmet to it or clip the ignition key to the lock key after locking. Or you could just simply put a sticker on it to remind yourself.

Giant Seal Disc Brake Lock GS-3028

The motorcycle disc lock
Motorcycle Security Chain

Security chains can be heavy to lift and it could discourage the theft to steal.

Security chains are strong cut resistance and the protective coating helps prevent scratching. The special steel alloy welded links are case hardened to resist sawing attack and deep through hardened to resist bolt cropping. In addition, it represents excellent value for money.

Motorcycle U Lock (http://motorcycle-locks.ready-online.com/scooter-lock.html)

Motorcycle U Locks are made of steel with the U shape. They are used to secure the motorcycle. Lock core design provides the highest degree of protection against picking; some keys are equipped with mini flash lights. Motorcycle U locks use durable PVC sleeve covers chrome steel shackle to prevent marring and scratching, their hardened solid steel lock prevents prying, sawing and hammer impacts. U-locks are ideal for bicycles, motorcycles, spare tires, trailers, etc.

Giant Seal ( http://motorcycle-locks.ready-online.com/ )acts as a supplier of high-quality motorcycle and scooter locks. If you are looking for a supplier of highly-refined and advanced motorcycle and scooter locks for motorcycle security use, look no further than Giant Seal.

motorcyle helmets

Relying on where you live, it may be illegal to ride a motorcycle without motorcycle helmets. Whether it is legal or not, wearing a motorcycle helmets is a sensible choice for anyone that wants to guard themselves when riding. Bike motorcycle helmetss come in a selection of styles. The more coverage a motorcycle helmets offers, the more defended the rider will be. The type of motorcycle helmets somebody chooses is usually a matter of personal taste.

A full face motorcycle helmets covers the entire head. There is a protecting area round the chin as well as full coverage for the base of the skull. Full face motorcycle helmets have either colored or clear face shields that can be moved up and down. These sorts of motorcycle helmetss are mainly selected thanks to the amount of protection that they offer. The full face motorcycle helmets does get hot underneath, and it also means hearing is reduced and you will not get that'wind flowing thru your hair' feeling.

According to the national road Traffic Safety Administration, when comparing a car to a motorcycle rider the motorcycle rider has a 35 p.c greater chance of getting hurt or dying in an auto accident compared to a driver in an automobile. When wearing a motorcycle helmets it is less likely that the motorcyclists will receive a heavy head injury and more likely to survive the accident according to the the national Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Safety motorcycle helmets for motorcycle users are the law in many states, optional in others. Especially so if the motorcycle helmets is rated for safety and is properly fit to the wearer. Safety is what it's all about right. When wearing a motorcycle helmets it will shield your head against the following, it protects your face, your ears and you are able to have an intercom system to chat to others. A motorcycle helmets protects your head and your face from injuries. There are many different types of motorcycle helmets ranging from motorcycle helmets that have a face guard and motorcycle helmets that have an open face so you can feel the wind on your face, motorcycle helmets can be customised to your directions. Trying to find full face motorcycle helmets can be a challenge. On motorcycle helmets the face shield can retract by lifting up and down.

These are a few of the explanations some folks prefer open face motorcycle helmets. These are also known as'three quarter' motorcycle helmets. Like a full face motorcycle helmets, the back of a 3/4 motorcycle helmets also covers the back of the skull. there's no jaw protection provided, and some models even come without a face shield. Visors can be customized in different lengths to help in the reduction of glare from sunlight. Wind, dust, or bugs could cause issues without some kind of protection, which is why some open face motorcycle helmets include a face shield which will cover the eyes. 3/4 motorcycle helmets offer good protection for the back of the skull, but none for the front of the face.

Another sort of motorcycle helmets to consider is a half motorcycle helmets. A half motorcycle helmets is often referred to as a 'Shorty' motorcycle helmets. Not like the full face or open face motorcycle helmets in an accident half motorcycle helmets are likely to come off the driver in the occurrence of an accident as they are known to shift when riding.

Novelty motorcycle helmets aren't legally known as motorcycle motorcycle helmets. Novelty motorcycle helmets only look like they are compliant with the law, and are generally worn by those that feel they are being compelled to wear a motorcycle helmets, but do not actually need to. Novelty motorcycle helmets can defend against scalp abrasion or a sunburned scalp, but won't protect the skull from damage in an impact. While a novelty motorcycle helmets is not certified by the Department of transportation, there are skull cap motorcycle helmets that are. There are likely more custom versions of skull cap motorcycle helmets than any other type of motorcycle helmets. There's even one that was made in the form of, you know it, a skull.
