The spaceship ‘Valley Forge’ from “Silent Running” (1971) actually got it’s name from the location used to film some of its interiors; a decommissioned aircraft carrier named the U.S.S. Valley Forge.

Like Cognac the G is silent.
It would be pronounced Flonard

Is it okay to use all-purpose flour instead?
Thank you!

Great recipe, but I don’t think thyme should’ve been added. I tasted it, and it just felt off. Perhaps some cinnamon or something instead?

I made this for some friends the other night, and they really seemed to like it. The thyme adds a nice and surprising flavor!
For others who make this, I had to cook a little past the 45 min. mark because the batter had not yet set in the center, so I left it in for an extra five minutes and then threw it under the broiler for another three or four and that seemed to do the trick!

Don’t be scared of the salt. It tastes better, even in cake and icecream.
April 16th, 2010 - 08:34
yes, i know french. that’s how i know how to pronounce. that is correct, but it’s kinda difficult to explain english guy to pronounce french. i was just tryna explain him on easiest way the satisfying pronunciation. not perfect. perfect would be: [floɲaR] all together with plain [o], not [ou], [ɲ] that is famous “ny”, like in new [ɲu:], fRech uvular R, like monsters saying “grrrr”, and no “d” at the end. that’s perfect
April 16th, 2010 - 08:35
I’m making this now! And….forgot the salt, but I think it’ll be okay. -_-
April 16th, 2010 - 08:39
yes, that would be to traditional french pronunciation with the ‘n’ on the second syllable.
