No Flash on the iPad is a Godsend
Exclusive video!
For screen reader users, Flash is poison. Screen readers don't know what to do with it. That, and Flash is incredibly unstable, so says Chris Pirillo, one of the most well known geeks on the web. This is why I'm very glad that flash is NOT provided on the ipad. Here's a link to the video: www.youtube.com

i have perfect vision i think i might go take my fight for granted and stare a black wall for a wile then maybe read a rook without glasses, look at all the textures the sea has when i go to the beach. and then cover my left eye and look out my RIGHT EYE.

February 6th, 2010 - 14:10

February 6th, 2010 - 14:40
I would like to see an epp of techtv never have
February 6th, 2010 - 15:24
Dude Not kewl
February 6th, 2010 - 15:39
I agree people really need to work on their grammar, It’s just sickening.
February 6th, 2010 - 16:38
Actually – I HAVE had YEARS of experience with Macs. See, I have worked in computer repair for NEARLY a decade. I have repaired both Macs and PCs. I purchased an iPhone, (which did NOT work well). I don’t make ANY claims to be a know-it-all, but I consider myself to be quite knowledgeable in computer technology. Apparently, so does our government since I was awarded TOP level security clearance to work on secure military systems here at Camp Lejeune NC. Macs SUCK you nerdy little cum stain.

Ah, now it makes sense. You’ve never purchased a product from Apple – nor have you spent a large amount of time with Mac OS X or its underpinnings (which, you’d quickly discover, are quite easy to “manage”). Your bigotry is quite transparent – laughable, really.
You somehow twisted this thread into the classic “Mac vs. PC” argument without checking your facts. This is about Adobe Flash, not your computer… dumbass.
February 6th, 2010 - 16:55
Mr Pirillo, I remember when you took over some of the hosting on TechTV. That’s also about when the channel went down the crapper, Secondly – I don’t give a crap if I didn’t spell your name right. Macs are the most simplistic pieces of garbage ever made. Mac fans would buy steaming dung if crApple told them too. Finally, only MORONS, and children resort to name calling when someone makes a comment about them. If you knew how to USE a PC, you’d know how to manage a PC so you don’t have problems.

(1) Just because YOU have had no problems with Flash does not imply that everybody else in every situation would be problem-free. (2) It’s spelled P-I-R-I-L-L-O, dumbass. (3) If you meet me again, please mention that you were the one on YouTube with horrid grammar and virtually no fact-checking skills. Then again, that’d be about 95% of YouTube users.
February 6th, 2010 - 17:53
I love how people just eat up whatever apple tells them. Apple products are for posers
February 6th, 2010 - 18:49
I actually think that there should be a toggle in setting; safari on the iDevices for flash on/off.
February 6th, 2010 - 19:17
There will probably be a flash mod when the jailbreak comes out for the ipad.
February 6th, 2010 - 20:10
Flash blockers are not the same, they prevent ads and unwanted flash from loading. You can still load wanted flash.
But the iPad, there is no unblock button. Getting the world away from flash would be good but if the iPhone failed at this why would the iPad be more successful? And the bigger problem is this, without flash it is deceptive to the average user to advertise that the iPad has full internet capabilities. They won’t understand why parts of many, many sites look funny or won’t load.
February 6th, 2010 - 20:23
“Whatever the hell else it is they want to do with Flash?” You do realize that YOUTUBE runs on Flash – right? The youtube videos you get on the iPhone are a very limited sub-set of YouTube videos. I use NVDA, and Firefox, and I have ZERO problems. This is just another example of how crapple users are trying so hard to be “special.” I’ve never had flash crash, huhuhuhu! You get your tech from Chriss Perillo? WOW! My brother’s dog knows more about computers than Perrillo. I’ve met him. He’s dumb.
February 6th, 2010 - 21:20
amen (i agree)
February 6th, 2010 - 21:58
Great points!
I’d be very happy to stop using Flash! In fact, I’ve installed Flash blockers on my browsers to keep them a little more stable.
Apple’s move away from Flash is a move in the right direction.
February 6th, 2010 - 22:44
there should be flash, but that it can be turned off like bluetooth
February 6th, 2010 - 22:52
yes i agree i i know flssh sucks for those with screen readers i have winnessed this several times, and i do agree that there needs to be text based sites to get aorund flash but i disagree that it is a bad thing verall and i feel it should be there if you can use it. flash is on the rise more altelyh according to thecircuit123 and he would know he is a huge tecnie and experenced in this area
February 6th, 2010 - 23:23
And this isnt stuff that is easy either, and its usually open source based so its not something that a normal person will go and do. I believe you CAN just remove the flash extentions from your acceptable file extentions in browser options which will solve the problem entirely but the web should move away from flash, seriously. There are better things, and we’ve gone passed needing Flash. Seriously internet, stop being lazy and update to a better protocol! *Kicks Adobe*

I think that it would not be that big of a deal if there was limited flash content on the web, but the unfortunate side of things is a lot of registery places, and such use Flash and you can not sign up on them, or view their content without Flash. It is terrible for screen readers yes. You can over-ride the flash refreshing and such by isolating it in a div container and filtering out the div containers using an adblock script but thats all custom and user controlled.. Not pre-included. Lame.
