**–Folks, the review section is for the item itself, not the condition of the item received!–**
This book is written in a step-by-step format and quickly becomes mind-numbing. This is learning by rote vs. comprehension; focusing on the process vs. the reasoning behind the process. Much of the terminology is incorrect in the exercises, and is inconsistent with the reading sections.
If you’re forced to use this book, my condolences. If you have a choice, run – don’t walk, to another book as fast as your feet can carry you.

On amazon, it said it is a “like new” book, but the book was really in bad condition. few chaptors were missing and some pages were replaced by another book.

I bought this book as a course requirement for a college computer literacy course. I have found this book to be a good starting point for the absolute beginner. You really need to use the included CD-Rom disc in order to complete the given exercises. The text is primarily composed of exercises based upon the templates included on the CD-Rom. If you have even the remotest familiarity with Windows 2007 and it’s various programs then you will probably find more help within the Windows help menus rather than the text itself. This text was written and intended for the absolute beginner and is in no way meant to be, or usable as, a desk referrence.
