    chana420, because Hollywood was still overtly racist at the time, and did not want to anger viewers, and lose commercial sponsors that paid the bills. MJ had yet to cross over into mainstream. Changing times and attitudes, plus international sar power, just 11 years later with Thriller, would change all of that.
