Is there any point in getting an iPad when I already own an iPod Touch?
Reader question: I mean, there hasn't really been much of a change regarding features in the newly launched iPad. Same apps, same internet feature, same email feature, same photos feature, same movies feature etc. Really, isn't the iPad just a bigger screen really? I'm pretty fine with the small screen of my iPod Touch (except for reading e-books). There's no point in spending more money at all is there?

IPad Is not for the general public.. I think its mostly geared towards businesses, travelers and the healthcare industry.. I would rather have a regular desktop/laptop than an IPad at home.. Im not going to make my life difficult trying to type on a tablet.. Your Iphone/Ipod can pretty much do everything Ipad can do.. I don’t even think the IPad has a camera built-in.. Its a great gadget to have if you love electronics and like to show off

I agree with Adam. It’s basically just a bigger ipod touch with an optional internet contract. ( i beleive it is pay as you go though) Mostly, IMO i think people will get it to show off. I doesn’t have a real computer interface, it probably doesn’t have any spyware or the ability to download stuff for the web. (maybe they thought the app store would cover EVERYTHING that needed to be downloaded to the thing?) It would be good to watch movies on a plane or in the car. I don’t beleive it has a camera and it uses flash memory. I don’t think they should be comparing it to a laptop at all. I’m guessing after 2-4 updates ( (software AND hadrware) if it even lasts that long) it will be pretty good. I might MIGHT only get it for the car since my and I go on trips alot but then again, my brother had this amazing dell laptop that can do that too so i probably will not be getting this

There are a couple of reasons the iPad is worth it (if these apply to you). First of all it is light only 1.5 pounds making it very mobile, the NYT and iBook aps make it a great eReader, the video quality and screen size make movie watching MUCH better than and iPod Touch, the fact you can use iWorks on it allows it to be used for note taking, business work, etc., and it can be capable of being 3G with internet access anywhere (essentially). When I first heard the info I was not sold until about 45 minutes into the presentation (iWorks, iBook, and New York Times) and then it all added up to be worth it to me!!
Just FYI you say same email, photo, and internet features but they are more robust on the iPad (especially email and photo).

No thanks! It’s too big to be portable, too small to be powerful. It basically looks like a laptop with a puny screen and no keyboard. I trust it isn’t even useful in a business situation, where the big business apps, like MS Office wouldn’t even be compatible.
I’ll pass on this one.

Yes, I think its worth it. Bigger screen. It will be nice to get to lay back and read or view a webpage that isn’t small and have to scroll like the iPhone/iPod Touch.

The iPad looks nice, like most Apple products…easy on the eyes.
However, I find one thing conspicuously missing. Cell phone functionality. If they’d included that they would have had me. You’re going to pay for connectivity anyway, so why not include it? It would replace most of things we carry around. PC/Phone/E-mail/Movies/Books all in one would be great. But with the iPhone in a dominant position, I guess Apple isn’t ready to lose that business. Understandable, but unfortunate.

That is how apple get your money. they come out with something new because people fall for it…who needs an ipad seriously?????
