is calling cats “dumbass” really hurt their feelings if you say it nicely?
Reader question: I mean cats only understand the tone of your voice not what you mean right?
Panama hats come from Ecuador not Panama.

cats dont care what you call them… Poop eater, butt sniffer, yes its in the tone. Only if you screamed it daily it could be bad. Cats dont feel emotion as we do… but consider if I called you a Dumbass in a really nice tone of voice and smiled would you like it? HEHEH probably not, but hey you wouldnt be as mad as if I screamed it in your face.

Yes, they don’t understand words, they lead by the tone of your voice.

It’s not the word but how you say it.

You can call a cat anything you want to and it won’t hurt its feelings. They will eventually recognize their name but not meanings to words.

Well, for what it’s worth . . .
I used to call a cat I had, whose real name was Miss Kitty. But I sometimes called her “FAT *SS”, and one day I saw her walk slowly across the road, looking back for a brief second, and then watched her go into a field over there and never saw her again. I’ve assumed that she didn’t like me calling her by that “bad” name and left home for good. I have always missed her.
I think certain words can hurt. But that’s just my kitty opinion. Yes, I do believe cats are sensitive individuals have feelings and they know when you mean certain things by the intonation that you use. The language itself, i.e. english, is really of no real value to kitty… He/she is only concerned about “how” your mood is with or toward her or him. So I’d say, yes… it’s the tone of your voice that indicates more to them what you mean.
However, with that being said, I do believe that cats do understand certain words. I know they understand “eat” real well. They also seem to understand “get down” very well. Cats pick and choose what they will tolerate. It’s just the nature of their species.
