If i have the swine flu vs the regualar flu how would i know? What is the difference in symptoms?

Reader question: What is the difference between the regular flu and the swine flu? And if someone has the swine , how long does it take to recover from it , esp if there are no vaccines available ? What should one do in that case? I have consulted a doctor and even he does not know what i should do, he himself said he had the swine already and has not fully recovered and i have had it now for three weeks . I have congestion so badly that sometimes i simply can not breathe properly.

  1. You cannot tell, there is no difference. I am going to guess that this has been said on here a million times in the last few months.

  2. ask a few different doctors.

It might be hard to recover and if there were no vaccines, you had to take a medication

  5. There is no difference. The flu is the flu. This swine nonsense is just the media’s way to once again manipulate people into thinking they need flu shots and dangerous vaccines.

  6. I’m not sure; this same question has been puzzling scientists since the discovery of the H1N1 strain. However, there are 4 tell-tell signs, that if all are present at any moment, should be a sure sign of having swine flu. All 4 signs have to present themselves in an alloted time of 2 hours; if any 4 of these signs are missing within those 2 hours, then there may be a chance that you do not have the flu.

Sign number 1: Waking up between 6 and 8 in the morning. Even if you have to go to school, waking up between 6 and 8 is one of the signs of having swine flu. H1N1 is a virus that latches itself to the “pons”, the part of your brain that controls sleep. It then “re-wires” the brain in order for you to wake up between 6 and 8 in the morning. (If you want to make sure that you do not have swine flu, one of the first things you must do is try to wake up around 5 in the morning; if you find it hard to wake up, then you should count it as a “yes” in having sign number 1).

Sign number 2: Not remembering if you dreamt last night. As stated before, H1N1 latches itself to the brain, so having difficulty remembering dreams, or if you even had a dream, may be a sign of swine flu.

Sign number 3: When you wake up and go to get off of your bed, if you get off on the left side of your bed, then it may be that you have swine flu. However, there are a few variables that may only allow you to get off on the right side of the bed (like having the left side right next to the wall); if this is the case, then count it as “yes” in having sign number 3.

Sign number 4: Being right handed. It has been proven by several scientific studies, that most of the people in the United States are right handed, so right handed individuals have a higher chance in being infected by H1N1.

These are the four tell-tell signs of having swine flu. I sure hope that you do not have any of these symptoms, but if you do, consult a medical professional IMMEDIATELY! Your medical professional may be able to diagnose your problem and take an immediate course of action in order to reverse the damage already caused by H1N1 to the brain. If immediate action is not taken, then it may be possible that severe damage is done to the pons, and that you may not be able to sleep for the rest of your life. This is highly inconvenient, and may require for you to live in a hospital, where they may be able to induce sleep through tranquilizers.

  7. It only took me four days from when the symptoms started to when my fever was down for twenty four hours. I was coughing for the next week or two though.
