Reader question: I need a wiring diagram for the radio in a 1995 chevrolet cavalier. I bought a new radio and the colors for the wires are a bit different

OEM radio has its diagram imprinted on the radio housing itself,aftermarket will be different,but generally,red is ignition voltage,orange is constant battery voltage,black is ground,blue is antenna feed,all others for speakers.

Get a test light. Find two hot wires. One hot when key is off. Thats for your station pre-sets and clock.Hook to either the yellow or red wire that came on your new radio. The instructions should say which is the pre-set wire. The wire that is hot only when the key is on is for main power. Hook it to the other red or yellow wire. Then you’ll have at least four more wires left. Those are left and right speaker wires. Usually paired in the same color. i.e. green&grey purple &grey.etc.
