How safe are you from getting H1N1 after receiving the vaccination?

Reader question: I received the H1N1 vaccination a few days ago, and now I am just wondering how long it takes to get full effectiveness, and how safe I am from getting the Swine flu? Also will I pass on immunity to my infant through breast milk? Thanks

  1. You are in a lot of trouble by talking that garbage the government calls a vaccine check out this website and than clicko on ingredinets :) Good Luck

  2. you should never get vaccinations for anything anymore.
the shots have mercury in it and its really bad for the brain, trust me
im not making this up. i saw it in the news and i got an email from my friend

  3. It take about 2 weeks or so to build up antibodies. And so far the research has shown that the vaccine is protecting people. Since it is a new vaccine, they don’t know yet whether your baby can acquire immunity through the breast milk, but there is a good chance that he or she could, since research has shown that breastfed babies get sick less frequently than formula-fed babies. (see sources cited) If your baby is older than 6 months old then he or she could receive the vaccine as well.

  4. If you have any signs of the H1N1 flu, talk to your doctor. If the doctor agrees, you can continue breastfeeding while you are ill, even if you are taking an antiviral drug. Mother’s milk itself has an anti disease power. It can help your baby avoid the flu.

To reduce the risk to your baby, wash your hands often. You may also want to wear a face mask.
According to medical scientists, babies are unlikely to get the H1N1 flu from breastmilk.
