How do I stop the AOL error ee:// aol frontier app from popping up when i start my computer?

Reader question: The problem started after I uninstalled an older version of AOL. The error code is 10, error starting. This is very annoying. The error message gives me the option to re-install aol or close the message. I've always chosen to close the message.

  1. Click ‘Start’ on the bottom left of your screen. Then click ‘Control Panel’. Then click ‘Startup Options’. Then find the program or error that is popping up and uncheck it. Now restart your computer and the error shouldn’t pop up ever again!

  2. It seems you may not have uninstalled all of AOL’s components.
There are a couple of things to try.
One is to access msconfig (Start > Run > type msconfig > startup tab). Once there, look for any entry related to AOL and disable it.

Or you can reinstall it to remove it (bear with me. I am assuming you do not want to use AOL).
Now for why you would want to do that:
When I first got my laptop, I uninstalled everything I did not want, including AOL. But in my haste, I uninstalled the wrong component first. It says that it was uninstalled successfully. However, another AOL entry remained and everytime I tried to remove it, it tells me that it cannot be found.
What I ended up doing is to download the AOL software, installed the software. Restarted. Then I uninstalled the other component first and now my laptop is AOL free.

    Hope this helps.
