How do I make a an old Nintendo controller wireless to the Wii?

Reader question: I have a Wii and you need to connect the old Nintendo controllers in order to play old Nintendo games. The cords on the remotes don't reach to long and I started wondering is it possible to remove the back of an old controller and install an wifi chip thingy so that the Wii will read it as if the controller is plugged in?

  1. wait…WHAT???

No…good lord…you turn the Wiimotes sideways to play NES games that you download through the Virtual Console service.

You don’t have to be MacGuyver to play NES games on the Wii!

  2. Well, I don’t know exactly what old controller you’re talking about, but I’ll take it as the SNES. There is a wii accesory called the “classic controller”. It is like a new version of the SNES controller that is compatible with the wii. It still has a cord, but the cord plugs into the back of the wii remote. You can find them at any electronics or most convinient stores like Target or Wal Mart.

  3. nope there is no way of doing this, you might be able to find a wireless gamecube controller on ebay but thats the only way to get wireless

  4. You either have to sync it or use a wire. And get an old memory card for it :)

  5. I cannot comprehend the question.

If it is a NES game you can use the wii mote on its side
If it is a SNES or N64 game you can use the Classic Controller which runs for 20-30$
If it is a Gamecube game you have to get the wavebird controller.

A group of geese on the ground is a gaggle, a group of geese in the air is a skein!
