   My dad is still with us but it’s a matter of weeks. Quite rapidly the cancer is winning an unfair battle. I don’t want him to be in pain anymore. I don’t want him to be sick anymore. Yet I am not ready to let him go either. When I hug my little boy I hope he feels the same as I do when I hug my dad. I’ll miss being a child but the dreaded time has come. This song gives me infinite support and strength to be the dad to my son that my dad has been to me for such a long time.

   Fathers are never gone they just become part of us when their body disappears from this world. Long conversations are held within us with them.!! Enjoy their presence in you………what we miss is not beign able to hiug them…………but in time with God help, we will hug them again!!

    funny how time flows , the pain dulls but never fades… wonderful song.

    I miss my dad everyday. already 5 years gone. Thank the Gods for the memories and music to keep them alive.

    Writing a song definitely helps.

    I too, had my father pass away. I played this song at his funeral. I only wish I could thank Peter Gabriel for sending him a letter and gift. I regret that my father never knew, passed on May 1st, 2009, which happened to be the delivery date

    Peter Gabriel…. you are the best. I want to tell you. Our father passed away this past December (2009) and my brother did an accapella of this song at his funeral… I hope you don’t mind but he changed the lyrics slightly to make it more appropriate to our life with our father.     6 months ago I lost my grandpa, who at the same time lived the role of my father, and this song makes me remember every single moment I was lucky to share with him.
