does the iPad have a USB port so that I can sync my iPhone from it?
Reader question: i was curious because I am aware that it can download music and apps from the stores, but I was not sure if I am then able to plug in my phone to download them to it.

No the iPad does not have a USB port, only a 30 pin connector like the iPhone has to charge through.
