Does a hard hurricane season mean a cold winter?
Reader question: I know this year the Gulf Coast had more hurricanes than normal, just like in 2005. I recently heard that that predicts it will be a colder than normal winter. Does anyone know if this is true or not? I really hope it is because I want it to snow here in Houston again. I can't remeber what the winter of 05 was like, but I don't remember it being that cold. Can anyone tell me if it may be colder this year or refer me to a good website that talks about this theory? Thanks!
When opossums are playing opossum, they are not “playing.” They actually pass out from sheer terror.

Well, looking at 2005. It was one of the worst hurricane seasons in recent times, but the following winter we had slightly above average temperatures. So, we know for sure that a hard hurricane season does not necessarily mean a cold winter.

Usually if there is a bad hurricane season, the temperatures usually tend to be a bit warmer. There are some small cases where there is a cooler than normal weather. It also deals with the air masses that come in through the different time of year.
