Spike Lee would admit the rap culture does not help. I don’t agree with everything he says but he’s been critical of his own race in the past as it relates to accountability. It’s a delicate issue but I can’t see how deluding oneself about the contributions of ones own race to the progress of civilization is useful. What’s important is what each person can contribute now to their own cause & by extension to mankind. But truth be told blacks have done little to help advance civilization.

@dzanier good point. Colonists were oppressed by england until they did something about it. Romans were oppressing England until they did something about it…if a particular race is “kept down” by another race; ie black man by white man. its bc they allow themselves to be kept down…..plus the Rap culture doesnt help black ppl’s cause at all. its cooler to be a thug or a drug dealer or pimp than someone who earns honest living and takes care of their family. pull up your damn pants

That’s a hell of an exaggeration!! For ancient times achievements you need to look at civilizations such as Nok, Ghana, Songhay and Mali. For the United States you need to look at the “Reconstruction” period where blacks achieved plenty sadly reigned back and destroyed. There is no “lack of black achievement over the last two millenniums” just general populations lack of knowledge about it!

Then I want to apologize. Who killed the blacks off? The middle Eastern people? Still, it’s a stretch to say the blacks started civilization. It could’ve been the Chinese. I don’t want to antagonize but do you feel the lack of black achievement over the last two milleniums is completely a result of oppression? Or is black indifference and apathy as to their own plight part of the problem also. I’m not a racist by the way.

With all due to respect to Minister Farrakhan, who I like to a point, the glorious past that he’s referring to never existed. If he’s alluding to the Egyptian Empire and Egypy, while that’s geographically a part of Africa, the people of ancient and modern Egypt are middle-eastern, not black. I think Libya is also a part of Africa but no one (including blacks) thinks they’re black. Pino’s right; what past is he talking about?
