  1. I KNOW!! That pissed me off so much when I heard that he got fired for the statement. Before I heard him say it, I said the same exact thing, yes, they are lunatics, evil assholes, but NOT cowardly, although their courage was fueled by delusion.

  2. Bill Maher for president!

  3. Thanks for posting this !

Now I want to see the rest of that show to learn what Maher says about Johnny Carson !

  4. Exactly. Bush called them cowards and Maher argued that that was a huge simplification. People reacted as if he had endorsed terrorism.

  5. so? they are evil asholes and religious lunatics and fuckers i’d shoot on sight… but i have to admit that it takes balls to stear yourself into certain death – no matter for what reason.

  6. He said that terrorists flying a plane into the World Trade Center were not cowardly.

  7. I admire Bill Maher. He tells the truth and makes the right people uncomfortable.

  8. Well, when Bush stated that the terrorists were ‘cowards’, Maher stated that we brought this upon ourselves by being the cowards. He said that throwing cruise missiles and bombing them is more cowardly than what they did to us. Basically his comment was blown out of context in the post 9/11 America

  9. Basically, he said it took courage to fly planes into the towers instead of hiding behind barricades lobbing bombs. He wasn’t saying it was right, but many people took it as saying the US was cowardly.

  10. I’m paraphrasing. he said how americans call the terrorists cowards then pointed out that they flew themselves into buildings which is brave where as americans push a button and launch a cruise missile.

I’m not sure why he was fired because this statement is for the better part true. allthough the troops don’t push a button. I never did understand why anyone ‘bad’ is called a coward by americans. I don’t think americans know what the word ‘coward’ means.

  11. Bill Maher is the spokesman of the younger generation

  12. He said something along the lines of “The terrorists who blew up the twin towers weren’t cowards, call them what you will but knowingly going to your death isn’t cowardice” (in response to how the BUsh admin kept calling Al Quedia cowards, etc.)

  13. Where the fuck is part 2?

  14. He said new coke tasted better.

  15. can someone tell me exactly what Bill did or said to get fired from ABC. wuts the story?

  16. “I think I was born in the wrong country.” AMEN, Bill!!! That’s why I love ya!

  17. Is the 2nd part of this uploaded? I can’t find it – help!

  18. Real Time With Bill Maher is one of the best shows on television. Bill Maher is one of the best comedians of our generation.

  19. not a problem :) ya, its rly good to have him back on t.v. i personally see how what he said was controversial, given the timing, but i dont think it warrented a cancellation of his show. he called the catholic church an organized group of pedofiles, i think thats worse than what he said about 911 lol. i love maher tho, he rly is as great a philosopher and teacher as he is a comedian

  20. OK, thanks a lot for letting me know :-) I understand that it was sensitive at the time, too bad he had to go though. BUT Real Time is a very good show so maybe it wasn’t all bad :-)

  21. i havent been able to find the video anywhere, but i know what he said, ill paraphrase here, i dont fully remember. “flying these planes into the building, THATS not cowardly. firing missiles from 1000′s of miles away into other countrys, THATS cowardly. say what u want about these guys, it wasnt cowardly” he was obviously referring to the states firing missiles into other countries. the feeling after 911 was very touchy, so that kind of statement drew a very high level of criticism

  22. yea.. hes damn lame…

  23. Man that host sucks

  24. I have a fairly deep understanding of my country and my countrymen and women. I understand that there is a deep, almost palpable anti-intellectualism that dates back 200 years, and is perhaps our most dominate sociological characteristic. life is fun. jazz music heals the soul.
