He is using CISCO PACKETTracer application from CISCO learning. I think it is 4.11 version which is already outdated. Version 5.0 is already available.

An example of how the so-called powers that try to withhold certain info the general public. Cisco requires special access to obtain this info. Most people can come here to youtube an obtain free, unabaited access.

Hi Viperboy, i am trying to use 3 routers as u did. I am afraid that i am having a problem. the problem occurs when i’m trying to make connection between routers. the error message is :” The cable cannot be connected to that port. ” when i am trying to use serial DCE or serial DTE the error appears. the thing that i am doing is, make connection between R0 and R1 with serial cable. Can u pls tell me how i can solve this problem ? THanks in advance

No the default state of the interfaces is administratively down. You have to enable it for it to come up.

I thought that the interfaces were enabled right out of the box except for the VLAN 1 interface. Are they not?

Well in version 3 i know there’s already a serial interface on the terminals, but on the back of the router when you chose the interface from the list, serial shows up. I think you need a rollover.

I am using packet tracer5.0 to do the experiment ,but I don’t know how I can add a fastethernet interface and serial interface.

well this is a network simulator program. And telnet is a protocol, you can access with a command built into windows, just type ‘telnet ‘ip” It’s the same for most unix too.
