   For those of you that are looking to either brush up, or have a better understanding on Cisco Concepts. I can not say enough good about this book.

   First it is broken by Cert. BSCI, BSMSN, ISCW, and ONT. I was able to better understand the concepts because they are explained clearly, and plainly. They removed all the fluff language. Everything is stripped down to plain and simple understanding. Because of this approach, I was able to pass the certs, and my prep time was cut down. I do have all the text books for the certification. I actually stopped reading them because of some of the confusion they bring to me.

   This book should have ten times the price. More then worth the asking price. The knowledge in there is invaluable.

   Denise Donohue, CCIE, Brent Stewart and Jerold Swan, CCIE’s CCNP QUICK REFERENCE: A QUICK REVIEW OF CCNP EXAM TOPICS is a final exam prep tool which reviews all objectives in the four CCNP exams, offering a review of key topics in a cram-style format with charts, sidebars of information, and more. As such it’s a CCNP student’s ‘must have’ supplement for any study culminating in testing.

   Before you go take the test you want to read at least a couple of books preparing you for it. You might even want to look at one of the video presentations that are excellent for giving you an overall view. Then you want this book.

   As the title says, this is a quick reference. It has two main uses. First, it is a good final preparation for taking the test. Second, it is a quick guide to the subject without a lot of explanation. When you want to know just the details about how to do something, without a lot of explanation — use this book.

   You’ve studied the big books. You know and (hopefully) remember the explanations. But now you need to know just exactly what to type in, what to look for, what test to run. That information is here. It’s abbreviated to be sure, but that means you don’t have to carry around a whole library.

   Just a final note, be sure you get the 2010 edition, not the one from a few years ago with the same title.

   I had just started studying for my CCNP when Cisco announced the updated tests, ROUTE, SWITCH, and TSHOOT. I grabbed this because it was the first I could get ahold of dealing with the new tests. After a quick read, I can say that anyone trying for their CCNP should get this book. It’s a great add on to the study guides out there and makes quick work of summarizing everything needed for the exams. It covers terminology, command syntax (which is the reason it will stay at my desk even after the exams), and best practice components of the relevant information. This book is a must for anyone in the networking field working with Cisco, even if you aren’t taking the exams.
