   Are you fat? Annoying? Middle-aged with kids? Then you may end up dating a geek.

   Let’s face it, no one willingly chooses the geek in high school, college, or really into their early 30s, unless going to the prom under ANY circumstances is essential. Women spend those years waiting for the smart, handsome guy with a sense of humor who loves being around people and has an extensive network of great friends.

   But when all your girlfriends are married and you can’t get anyone normal to chat you up even in the slurred 9:00 PM hour of your after work gatherings, you are going to have to suck it up and put a personals ad online. And when you do, it’ll be raining geeks.

   Has problems making eye contact in the hallway? Check. Would rather play video games than work on his career? Check. Doesn’t seem to mind that you’re as out of shape and weird looking as he is? Check.

   But just because you’ve settled for this last ditch stab at a relationship doesn’t mean you’re ready for the long list of negatives that make up the geek’s dysfunctional personality. You need preparation and possibly the contents of Mel Gibson’s liquor cabinet. Will this book help? Well it can’t hurt.

   I purchased the guide for my son’s girlfriend. I read a few segments to him before we passed it on to her. Hilarious! And accurate!

   As a human being and educator who has observed the geek in his natural habitat ( the classroom) I have to agree with Omi’s assessment of the humanoid we refer to as “geek”. While it is generally agreed that “nerds” are subpar members of the human species, most would agree that anyone resembling the geek has potential. Geeks(Y) are often highly intelligent who pursue fabulous degrees
   
   ( medical, engineering, chemistry, ect..) which translates into a useful education which attracts dollars which further translates into a husband who will provide a good living for figure X. That’s you girls. While it may cost you many trips to the store to ensure the freezer is stocked with an assortment of crappy frozen pizzas, it is well worth your time when you consider what you get in exchange: a nice home, a good neighborhood, and cello lessons for little Chester. You will also need to purchase an expensive washer/dryer to keep said geek’s socks and clothes in minty fresh condition. The downside is that you will have to learn to bake pies, but hey, a pie in exchange for all the things you will receive in return is a cheap price to pay.
   
   The question is, can a man be a geek and still hold on to his guy card? I think yes. Masculinity comes in many forms and that includes highly intelligent and inquisitive minds who just happen not to bathe on a regular basis; minor annoyance when you consider you will married to Dr. Geek, Professor Geek, or Scientist/ Inventor/ Entrepreneur Geek.
   
   “A Girl’s Guide to Dating a Geek” is a clever, well-written, dare I say thesis? on the male egghead called geek. It is easy to read for the rest of us non PhD’s and anyone who has ever discussed CPU’s, been involved in LARP’s, or attended a LAN party ( which is one of the most bizarre gathering of smelly people I have ever seen) will know that she has been in the company of a geek.
   
   I did have some trouble locating the author’s website until I came up with oMi( notice the capital M) Online which took me right there. The website is not only hilarious, but entertaining as well. I thoroughly recommend this creative one-of-a-kind book by Omi M. Inouye.

   This book is amazing. I bought it for my girlfriend as a joke but she seems to enjoy it. It’s an enjoyable bathroom reader beside the Alphabet of Manliness by Maddox

   As a geek, this is a delightful reading. This little book is full of geek jokes and provides valuable insights about our lifestyle. I gave this as a gift for my girlfriend, and now many of my friends want one for their girlfriends too!
