The GT500 is a sporty car. Not that great.
January 28th, 2010 - 08:39
@utubejjk
the shelby came out on top when the hennessy maro went head to head wit the shelby
January 28th, 2010 - 09:25
There is no Camaro that can match the GT500???
Umm yeah there is.
It’s called Hennessey.
January 28th, 2010 - 09:29
@ renantlobo if ur super snakeing it strap ur boots cuzz u got a ZR1 passin you and really fast
January 28th, 2010 - 09:42
r u kidding? the mustang was like a one legged man in an asskicking contest, the #’s weren’t even comparable! An SS Camaro is closer in performance to the GT500 and prob has a better power/weight too
January 28th, 2010 - 09:52
Wow that mustang is pretty amazing, the numbers are barely different and they are two totally different cars. Take the selby
January 28th, 2010 - 10:48
Two tons. If I was to buy a 2 ton American car for $50 grand, I’d get a CTS-V. Different class, but in spite of the fact GM made a mistake putting a moonroof on it, it will run rings around the Mustang.
It seems as far as Ford is concerned, suspension is overrated and the Mustang’s old school good looks can compensate for it. Yes, there’s the Roush Mustang, but why does Roush have to make up for what Ford lacks?
I like those wheels on the Vette. Overall, the C6 is as good as it gets.

there is a limiter on that….i think
January 28th, 2010 - 11:49
“THE GT500 Super Snake destruct the corvette..”
did you see the numbers ??
Corvette crush the gt500.
To battle gt500 SS chevy has ZR1, just that !!
Sux ford.
January 28th, 2010 - 11:52
540hp and only 161mph…wow
January 28th, 2010 - 12:43
THE GT500 Super Snake destruct the corvette…but the corvette is a typical sport car, and the mustang a muscle car… in my opinion i prefer the gt500 is so beautiful…
Sorry for the Bad English i am brazilian =D rsrs…
January 28th, 2010 - 12:58
@Alexroberts270 ZR1 muthafucka!
January 28th, 2010 - 13:52
@Alexroberts270 not the zr1 dumbass
January 28th, 2010 - 14:36
Completly different cars but hey you gotta Love em both, America for the win.
January 28th, 2010 - 15:11
i think its pretty sickening that its a shelby “annointed(lol)” car but it was the cobra emblems on it…… the cobra died with the terminators, the best years
January 28th, 2010 - 15:51
im sorry if you are trying to say that a zr1 can compete with a saleen s7 you are wrong…i love corvettes so much but you cant compete with a saleen, maybe if you had a pagani zonda
January 28th, 2010 - 16:07
@ktmlover90 And there is something called a ZR1 for that ass
January 28th, 2010 - 16:48
@Croozer
agreed. but it just seems like they were aiming at the vette when they introduced the 500 horsepower shelby.
January 28th, 2010 - 16:58
@1flynlow
The Mustang was built to compete with the Camaro, Firebird, and the Challenger.
It is a ponycar/musclecar not a sportscar.
January 28th, 2010 - 17:27
thats not a sports car it’s a supercar, the vette is americas only sports car and it pretty much dominates although i’d take a s7 anyday, but as far as sports cars go can somebody give me a 2 seater made from america made from 2000 up
January 28th, 2010 - 18:11
well ok bud, but plenty of baby boomers buy $50,000 corvettes too….
January 28th, 2010 - 19:03
@1flynlow
On the track, i woudl say 2009-10 Camaro, 08-10 Charger and Challenger SRT-8s. And the many other Camaros, older Vettes.
And in it’s target buying demographic, (by that I mean people that are actually buying the car and using it,) anything from the new Audi and Lexus, and Infinity AWD, 400+ HP Luxury Sports cars, and of course the BMWs and Benz’s. Basically anything that a baby-boomer era dude would buy as his “$50,000 Toy.”
That’s the competition.
January 28th, 2010 - 19:40
I’m a mustang guy, & my friend has a Shelby GT-500. It’s heavy (4100lbs) & you feel the lag from that. The 500+hp Supercharged 5.4L provides nice rip through the gears. However, my Honda Shadow 750 & GSX-R 750 are easily able to take it on the 1/4m. Its NOT a race-track car. Just too heavy. A GT-500 is a retro influenced modern muscle car.
BUT the C6 Corvette line (GS, Z06) competes easily with cars worth $250,000-$500,000 or more. It’s America’s finest and a SPORT CAR!
Not a good comparison.
January 28th, 2010 - 20:36
what exactly IS the shelby designed to compete against???
January 28th, 2010 - 20:50
America has another true sportscar
Its called the saleen s7 and it kicks ass
