   A ZR1 is still a Corvette, a Ford GT is no Mustang!

   The FGT will hold its value (some have appreciated).

   Any Corvette will not truly compare with a Ford GT or Ferrari or any true supercar. GM needs to make a flagship, possible mid-engine, supercar….too bad it’ll never happen.

   And to think, with that money you’re spending on a GT so it can compete with a ZR1, you’ve just spent more cash on an already more expensive car. My personal opinion: Buy a Superformance GT40 MkII instead of a Ford GT. Cheaper, faster, and closer to the original GT40 than the GT could ever wish.

   I think the odds are the later, unless the PERFORMANCE wars TRULY come to an end. Even then, future value of this car is questionable at best. Again, the Ford GT is just a special car that people will desire for a long time. The ZR1, well, the C7 may trump it… Who knows….

    But no amount of money can give the ZR1 what the Ford GT has…. Most of those things have been mentioned throughout this thread. It really is a special car. Rare. Exotic. Unique. Mid-Engined. Drop dead gorgeous.

    And of course the pink elephant in the room, future value. The Ford GT is one of the safest bets going, at least for ‘newer’ cars. The ZR1, well, it’s anybody’s guess. It could hold strong, or could go the way of the previous ZR-1.

    I think most reasonable people will concede a ZR1 has a performance advantage over the GT bone stock vs. bone stock. Z06, umm, no. Not under normal circumstances. Of course were talking ZR1 vs Ford GT, so let’s leave the Z06 in the garage (along with videos & Ranger 1/4 mile times).

    In any case, I’d pick the Ford GT. Why? Because what the ZR1 has that the Ford GT doesn’t (that matters to me – a slight performance edge), can easily be remedied with very little money.

    No to mention the fact that the ZR1 has run faster laptimes on EVERY SINGLE TRACK that it has run on with the GT, such as Hockenheim short, which was conducted by Sport Auto. Were ze germans cheating as well, or did the ZR1 really beat the GT by almost 5 seconds on a short track? Or how about Top Gear’s ZR1 laptime which beat the GT’s and was run on a damp track? Man, everyone must have a vendetta against the GT. Maybe you can write a documentary similar to Loose Change about it, LOL.

    If you’re referring to ring times, GM, a Multi-Billion $ Corp. took the zr1 to the ring, and have a reputation as a cheat.

    On the other hand, Octane Magazine, took a stock, privately owned GT to the ring and ran it on a Shoe-String or No-String Budget.

    Who is Octane Magazine? I’ve never heard of them? They have absolutely no credibility with me.

    ZR1 > Ford GT = FAIL

    Um, watch the video from Inside Line where they compare the Camaro SS with the GT500. The GT500 ran 12.8 in THAT video also, and the Camaro SS ran 12.9.

    The narrator is correct. There is no historical basis for a rivalry…and there still is no basis for a rivalry. The mustang, GT500, GT500KR don’t match up to the corvette. For the money you pay the corvette is probably the best bang for the buck against almost any car on the market today.

    your an idiot. the Ford GT is a tenth of a second faster than the Z06. The Z06 is around 70 grand…..the Ford GT is 150 grand. The corvette is obviously the better choice. AND the FORD GT is not even close to as fast as the NEW ZR1 CORVETTE. Ur a fucking dumbass
